WELCOME TO LIFE IN KINDERGARTEN!

Life in Kindergarten is going to be AMAZING!  My goal is for students to come to school excited each and every day!  I hope that they will have fun and new learning experiences that they will always remember and apply to their every day lives.
My role will be to love, nurture, and  challenge students to do the best they can and my job is to help them achieve success in every possible way!

About Mrs. Karistinos

I am usually Smiling and Laughing most of the day! I believe that with a Positive attitude you can overcome many obstacles, while brightening the days of those around you!

I have always had a joy for kids.  Growing up in Naugatuck, I was inspired by my teacher I had in the Naugatuck School District, and these role models inspired me to be a teacher that will help kids become the best they can be. .
Having the pleasure of teaching for 12 years, I began my career teaching in New Haven for a short while before being fortunate enough to come to Naugatuck-the same place I grew up.  I previously taught 2nd grade and Kindergarten at Maple Hill Elementary and most recently I spent the past 5 years as a Reading Consultant at Hop Brook Elementary.  I loved working with all students and teachers instilling the love of reading.  I am very excited to be back in the classroom teaching Kindergarten this year.  I can't wait to experience the kids each and every day and watch them grow into curious, happy learners!

The staff at Hop Brook work collectively as a team of teachers, staff, students, families, and community to ensure that every child has the best learning experience possible. Every day, the staff strives to put the needs of the children first, all while keeping them safe, challenged and cared for.

Education:
Bachelor Degree in Child Study and Elementary Education from University of Saint Joseph.
Masters degree in Reading from Southern Connecticut State University.

Some of my Favorites:
In addition to teaching, I also enjoy spending time with my husband at home, my family and friends.  I am always keeping busy doing something!  I play soccer, I like cooking and baking, sipping coffee, being in the hot sun, going to the beach, reading magazines, outdoor activities, exercising, shopping, and going to New York City.

Fun Fact:
I am Greek and speak the language fluently.  My favorite place to visit in the world is, you guessed it, Greece!  Most of my family lives there and any opportunity I have to visit them, I do!  I have spent many summers there surrounded by my family and friends, enjoying every precious moment together and creating fun memories.

Not only do I like to travel to Greece, but I like to travel to different places around the world and to experience their diverse cultures and discover what makes them unique!

Also, I love being around people that make me feel my best!
