A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.
About Mrs. Maher
I grew up in Waterbury, CT and graduated from Holy Cross High School. I attended Southern CT State University where I received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I began teaching in Naugatuck in 1999. After a few years of teaching, I returned to Southern CT for a Master's degree in Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts. I have been teaching in Naugatuck for 20 years and have taught fourth grade, first grade, second grade, and third grade. I have also been the Reading Specialist at Hop Brook Elementary School.
More About Me
My Family: I have been married since 2000 to one amazing guy, Christopher Maher. We have two sons who could not be more different. Spencer is 16 years old and attends Naugatuck High School. He is an avid swimmer and can be found practicing in the pool for a few hours each day. Spencer also loves school, especially US HIstory and plans to be a lawyer/politician one day. Kellen, our youngest son, is currently 11. He attends Cross Street School. He swims for the Naugatuck Thunderfish, but also enjoys football and baseball. Kellen, also loves school, but mostly for social reasons. He enjoys being with his friends and working cooperatively on engaging projects. Kellen is very creative and has no idea what he wants to be when he grows up, but I have no doubt he will figure it out!
My Favorites: I love going out to new restaurants with my family and friends. My favorite foods include filet mignon and juicy burgers. I enjoy watching my two boys swim (both at practice and at meets), as well as exercising myself. I need to exercise to cancel out my love of ice cream, specifically coffee ice cream with chocolate sprinkles.
