First Grade Teacher
"Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance!"
I am excited to welcome this year's class of 2030!
First grade is an important year for students to solidify their letter and number skills, as they continue on their way to becoming fluent readers and mathematicians. They will be following the vision of the graduate as they learn to become responsible citizens, informed thinkers, researchers, innovators, communicators and problem solvers.
About Mrs. DeAngelis
I am thrilled to be starting my 6th year at Hop Brook Elementary School! I currently live in Southbury and am sending my youngest child of 3 off to college this year! I began working many years ago with handicapped adults as I planned and facilitated their day programming. I was then fortunate to be able to spend the next 14 years raising my children and, upon re-entering the work force, started as a 2nd grade teacher at St. Rose in Newtown. After 2 years, I came over to the Naugatuck School District, first as a reading tutor and later as a First Grade teacher. I have a deep passion for what I do and feel that my goals align with the vision of the district......I am proud to teach in Naugatuck!

A few of my favorite things: I enjoy reading, watching the Yankees, playing sports of all kinds, spending time with my family and dog, and visiting Dunkin Donuts.
A fun fact about me: I have been playing shortstop for women's and co-ed softball teams for over 30 years.
Wish list for supplies: Our classroom is often in need of tissues, absorbent paper towels, ziploc bags, cleaning supplies, glue sticks and hand sanitizer.
